MY BACKGROUND & HISTORY

My experience of entrepreneurship started at an early age. I’d always admired the things that my grandparents achieved in their lives and the risks that they had taken. I spent much of my childhood enjoying the fruits of their labour, after they were able to retire to Spain.

 

I knew I wanted to dip my toe into the property market and so when the opportunity presented itself, I acquired my first rental in 2008. To say it was a learning curve is an understatement. A particular highlight was the night my phone rang, with a fly-away garden shed in the middle of a powerful storm. There was never a dull moment but it sparked a life-long passion for property. I was hooked.

Since then, I’ve poured my energy into fully understanding the property sector. I attend regular training courses and seminars to stay up to date with the latest investment strategies. I believe knowledge is power, particularly in the world of business. I’ve also gained accreditation with LASW and West of England Rental Standard.

Franklin Property was officially established in 2018, when I decided to pursue this venture alongside my full-time job role. Two years down the line and with a steadily growing portfolio, I took the leap and left my job in July 2020.

CURRENT PORTFOLIO

I currently have two properties that are occupied by professional tenants, having invested £200k of my own money into acquisition and renovation. I’m achieving a great monthly return, and the capital growth of these two properties alone is already in the region of £34k over two years.

 

Another two properties are due to be added to the portfolio by mid-September 2020. An exciting project that is also on the cards is the development of a local shop, providing a reduced retail area and three studio apartments, to meet the demand for affordable, solo occupancy living space in the local area.

FUTURE PLANS

My priority for the next few years is to continue growing the portfolio with a number of three bedroom family homes requiring refurbishment, along with branching out into the development sector by acquiring commercial buildings. My aim is to always increase both the financial return of a property, along with giving back something valuable to the local community. The goal is to achieve a portfolio with a net worth in excess of £3.6 million within 7 years, and I’m always looking for partners to join me on this journey.
